An unforgettable year!

A year at a folk high school is an exciting and eventful year - full of friendship, a sense of accomplishment, challenges and great experiences! Sometimes it can also help shape your path forward in life.

Here is what some former students say about their year at Hallingdal Folk High School.

From not daring to leave the house, without joy in life, to standing in the same room with a hundred other young people was a shock for me. But understanding staff, and students who took me on new things, made me feel like part of something bigger. With my joy in life back and the willingness to try new things, this is one of the most important choices I have made in my life.

A great year! At Skaga I got to work with my own creativity and had the freedom to develop myself. During the year I met many others who were passionate about the same things as me and I was inspired by their thoughts and opinions. In addition, we had nature right outside the door and the ski resorts are some of the best Norway has to offer. It was the full package for me.

The year at Hallingdal FHS has had a profound impact on my path in life. Here I had the opportunity to explore my main interests in a creative environment. This made me choose to pursue outdoor photography and later photojournalism as a career. I haven't regretted it for a second!

At Hallingdal FHS I learned to live my dream. It is one of the most important things I have carried with me, and what made me dare to pursue what I am doing today; namely studying medicine. The folk high school year also gave me friends for life that I still have very good contact with. I think the friendships became so strong because you live so close together and get to know each other better.

The year at Skaga was absolutely fantastic. In the winter you can, for example, ride in Golsbakken right next to the school, Tirilparken in Geilo or Gummiskogen in Hemsedal. And we must not forget the rail park in the garden.
In other words, at Skaga I got a lot of time to ride boards and had incredible fun with the people around me, not least the fantastic teachers.
