Architecture and Nature

Architecture and Nature is the line for those of you who are curious about architecture and outdoor life.

Join us for a year filled with exciting projects and great trips. On the course we will work on projects inside the classroom and outside in nature. In the classroom we work with drawing, scale and model building. Outside we explore how architecture is not just four walls, but that it can also be living in a snow cave, a tent or a tree house.

The fall begins with basic training in scale, drawing and measuring. We will also work on how you can find your own style to draw with different media and materials. Carpentry and lathing are also on the program. We take this knowledge with us and use it in the field. The projects we will work on vary greatly. Some are quick sketch projects. Some are larger projects where we go through all the phases from idea to a finished construction.

Architecture is more than just the buildings around us. On trips we explore what architecture can be and what provides spatial experiences. For example, have you thought about what a campfire can do to the experience outside?

Throughout the winter we alternate between being out skiing or hiking, and in the classroom working on projects.

Practical information

The year is divided so that we have three curriculum days a week, except for 4 weeks (the curriculum weeks) where we work with curriculum subjects.

Price for the school year 25/26:

Price full-year study: NOK 145,000

The loan fund provides a loan of NOK 151,690 for the school year 25/26 . 60 percent of this sum is a loan, 40 percent is a loan that will be converted into a scholarship when you are approved for your year at folk high school. To have a loan converted into a scholarship, you cannot have undocumented absences that exceed 10 percent.

Study trip for the line

For the big line trip we head towards the Alps. Here we visit towns and villages of all sizes and study the architecture. Spas are a must on the list, and of course we can't go to the Alps without skiing.
