Principal/CEO of Hallingdal Folk High School from August 1, 2025

Hallingdal Folkehøgskule is a liberal arts college established in 1959. The school is organized as an independent association. The school is located in the municipality of Gol, midway between Oslo and Bergen, with good communications both by rail and road.

Hallingdal Folk High School has a capacity for 90 students. The school's core values are freedom, shared responsibility, tolerance, care and community. The school offers a wide range of activities; skiing and snowboarding, outdoor activities, animal care, tourism, balance/yoga, architecture/nature, leadership development and sheep shearing.

Gol is a hub in the region with good kindergarten coverage, a new 1-10 school, several sports halls and a high school with a varied study offer. The municipality also houses USN Campus Hallingdal. Gol, with about 5,000 inhabitants, is the regional and commercial center in Hallingdal. There are ample opportunities for outdoor activities in the forest and mountains in all seasons.

We are looking for a principal/managing director of Hallingdal Folk High School

Hallingdal Folk High School has a vacant position as principal/managing director. The principal/managing director is pedagogically, financially and administratively responsible for the school's operations and reports to the school's board. The principal/managing director works closely with the assistant principal.

We want a principal with a broad and inclusive view of humanity, a twinkle in his eye, and who is good at working in a team. As principal of the school, you must enjoy being with young adults who are on the threshold of adult life, and deal with the challenges the students face in a good and compassionate way. As a leader, we see that you are clear and involving in a motivating way. The principal must be able to identify with the school's ideological foundation as a curriculum and examination-free school. The position is complex and varied and requires good business understanding.

We want a principal who is motivated by developing new offerings that are attractive to the target group. The school has a large building stock that must be maintained and developed. The principal has a teaching duty and participates in social and educational work.
